Tourism is the Largest industry in Palestine,
through tourists that visit Palestine every year,

sustainable development and job
opportunities can be created for many unemployed people,

There are a lot of projects that don’t
imply sustainability because it depends on funding and

loans, therefore, its very important
to focus on community based tourism as a sustainable

developmental plan which includes
youth, women, and infrastructure.

The
objective of this project is to contribute to job creation and income
generation for

 marginalized rural communities in the West
Bank, with a particular focus on women and youth,

and to
capture lessons from piloting job creation through experiential tourism that
could be

applied
in other Fragile and Conflict-Affected Situations. 

Building
Skilled trekking guides aims to create a new product that will benefit local
hosting

communities’
economies, reducing long-term unemployment and improving community

partnership
for a sustainable tourism development.

Community based
tourism aims to develop the knowledge and skills of women to become experts

in food
production, branding, venting and labeling, empower the presence of women in
the labor

market and
their products will become competitive with other goods, thus increasing the

percentage of
the sales that results will be revealed: job opportunities and personal income
for

women.

Vision statement: Vibrant Palestinian communities and sustainable
environment in response to the

unemployment in Palestinian marginalized communities especially
rural areas.  Community based

tourism aims to serve the marginalized communities in in Area C
through raising the number of

Palestinian and international guests visiting the targeted communities.
 Moreover, the Palestinian

 flora and fauna have to be
protected.

Mission
Statement : To develop, promote, community development, promote it among
potential

 markets (of travelers from Palestine and
elsewhere); and protect it by advocating for the

reinforcement
of environmental and cultural protection policies.

Target
group for Trekking Guides:

The trainees
will be selected from different marginalized areas through the West Bank, from
north

 to south including, the Jordan valley, the
Jerusalem Wilderness especially Bedouins who are

facing
eviction orders by Israel E1 plan,  East
Jerusalem, south Hebron and Rashaydeh areas. 
The

selected
guides has to be identified from the above and similar locations. 

The
trainees has to have the bellow qualifications in order to be admitted to the
program:

–       Minimum age: 22 years

–       Educational background “Minimum Tawjihi”

–       Very good command of English Language and / or other languages
(French, Italian, …) are preferred

–       Good Physical abilities (Medical report)

–       Certificate of good conduct, signed from local community or police

–       Interview: self-presentation, motivation, personal experience, etc.

–       The required competencies to pass the required level in the written
English test  

–       The good interpersonal & communication Skills

–      To pass the 2 days practical field test

Variety of training methods in
delivering each module will be adopted. But the mix is not an end

in itself. Training methods need to
be carefully selected to match the purpose and learning

outcomes of each session. The

Objectives:

the trainees
have to sit for Ministry of Tourism exam, which will enable them to get

the official license
that can open new doors of employment with the Palestinian Tourism private

 sector. 
Palestine will be promoted as a result through good ambassadors and
people who can

reveal the
Palestinian story, in a good way and provide a good experience for
international and

local visitors
that will help promoting different Palestinian villages, and enable the local

communities to
gain a much better income.  Yet, trained
guides can help keeping a better clean

 environment by adopting Leave No Trace
principles.    

 

Target group of
women :

1.The trainer
should be a part of an institution or a women cooperative or part of its local
communities.

2.Trainer
should have preferably five years of practical experience in managing women
centers,

hospitality
work, food production, product marketing and vending processes. Furthermore,
the

 trainer should have knowledge about Taxing law
in Palestine.

 

Duties and
Responsibilities:

1.Trainers are
expected to deliver training in an effective and efficient way regarding
training

method,
technique and training aid.

2.Explain and
take time to deliver the information to the trainees.

3.Prepare draft
agendas, course outlines and similar planning materials.

4.Determine
overall objectives of course, key content areas and strategy and methodology
for

training.

 

Objectives:

1.This training
aims to develop the knowledge and skills of women to become experts in food
production,

branding,
venting and labeling. The experts will be qualified to train other people in
these subjects. Nothing

that the
training will contain visual, practical and field visit exercises.

2. Moreover, the
training will empower the presence of women in the labor market and their
products will

become
competitive with other goods, thus increasing the percentage of the sales that
results will be

revealed: job
opportunities and personal income for women.

The training
will contain the following subjects:

o  
Food
production.

o  
Food
hygiene.

o  
Labeling
and branding of products.

o  
Quality
process.

o  
Taxation.

 

Selection
process for participants:

 

Participants
should have the following:

–         
Official
women center/ cooperative/ educational institution.

–         
Having
a productive kitchen and place to produce local products.

Able to
transfer knowledge to others.

 

     The consultant /
trainer   should provide:

1.     
The final
training plan and agenda agreed upon for the training and the full complement
of  all TOT materials. A minimum of four weeks
prior to convening the training.

2.     
The final
report on the training including a thorough evaluation for improvements of TOT.
The analysis must include treatment of gender issues and to be submitted by
trainers within two weeks of the completion of each training.

 

 

 

 

 

 

English Training for Women:

This training aims to develop the
English language skills of women (scale A2 to B1 levels ). Women will be

able to communicate, welcome
tourists and talk in order to introduce culture and history of Palestine.

This training will provide
participants with more skills that can be used in their jobs, especially those

related to tourism. Moreover, it
will help them increase their income.  

The training will contain the
following subjects:

o  
Welcoming module;
greetings, introduction and goodbyes.

o  
Accommodation and hospitality.

o  
Grammar; buy and sell process,
W questions.
