The Newseum is home to many exhibits. There are 6 floors of the Newseum. The Newseum was founded on April 18, 1997. The Newseum was built by Polshek Architects and it is a contemporary building. It is located on Pennsylvania Avenue between the Capitol and the White House. The address is 555 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20001. The Newseum’s purpose is to educate people on the importance of the First Amendment and the free press.. On the Concourse floor there is the Berlin Wall. The Berlin Wall divided East and West Berlin. The demolition of the wall took 2 years to finish. I took from 1990 to 1992. The wall’s purpose was to stop people from leaving East Germany and the communist Eastern bloc. I am very excited to see the FBI exhibit because I have always been very interested in mysteries. On the FBI exhibit it shows weapons that the FBI used, it shows what they wore, etc. On the 6th floor there is the Pennsylvania Avenue Terrace here, you can see all of Pennsylvania Avenue. At the top there is also newspaper headlines from all around the world. Once you get to the 5th floor you can see 500 years of news history. There is also a 100 ft wide screen theater that I cannot wait to see. . On the 4th floor it shows the Students and the Civil Rights Movement. It also shows the 9/11 gallery. The 9/11 attack was a very horrendous attack. At the Newseum there is some parts of the Twin Towers. There is also the First Amendment gallery which shows parts of the first amendments such as: freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and Freedom of Assembly. On the 3rd floor there is the World News Gallery. One part of the News Gallery shows a map that shows how much of the world is free. There is also a big list of journalists that have risked their lives for the press. There is a section for internet, tv, and radio. This section shows how technology has influenced and helped evolve the public media. On the 2nd floor they have an Ethics Center. The Ethics Center has a lot of fun hands-on activities. The activity that I cannot wait for is the Virtual Reality Section. On the last floor they have a section of Pulitzer Prize Photographs. The Pulitzer Prize is an award given to the best 13 americans in literature, journalism, and music.
